Ever asked yourself do your employees love their jobs, your company, and your leaders?
Organizational Health is not touchy feely; it’s far more significant and essential than mere culture.
In business, it’s the plate on which the meat and potatoes of any business sit.
Ask yourself, do you focus on the 3 Biases that stop you from embracing organisational health?
Do you feel the need to be:
- More Sophisticated
- Busy
- Or Analytical to bother with it?
Or do you just see straight past, not realizing that we have to slow down to go fast?
What is Organisational Health?:
Its core is Integrity. A business with Integrity is whole, consistent, and complete when management, operations and culture fit together.
Simple right?? UMMMM, let me think.
In business, we need two essential qualities to be aligned. “SMART” & “HEALTHY”
SMART versus HEALTHY:
SMART – Strategy-marketing-technology and finance, considered to be decision sciences, critical to any business wanting success. However, SMART is only 50% of what it takes to deliver maximum success, so why does it occupy almost all the time, energy and attention of virtually every team player?
HEALTHY – Minimal politics and confusion, high morale, productivity, and low turnover of good employees.
Can you Imagine:
Looking in the light, SMART is easy, so SMART is easy to tweak, safe and predictable. In contrast, HEALTHY is messy and unpredictable, so you won’t feel safe. But you need to go look for subjective and awkward conversations. Go mine this gold now. That’s HEALTHY.
Advantages to be found in SMART are incremental and fleeting at best. 21st-century nanosecond technology exchange, it has always been challenging to exceed your competition with intelligence or knowledge as information changes hands too rapidly.
It’s beyond our imagination as we sit back and watch industries, concepts, and brands come and go so rapidly than they did 10 years ago.
In the 21st Century, decision sciences are just the minimum standard required to have any chance of success. More is needed to achieve a meaningful, sustainable competitive advantage over any timeline.
Low intelligence and limited knowledge is rarely the problem. We have more than enough. We just lack the ability to be HEALTHY.
What are you Missing, SMART or HEALTHY?
HEALTHY trumps SMART every time. With no politics or confusion, healthy businesses get smart and grow over time. Starting with the leaders, all learn from one another, identify critical issues, and overcome mistakes quickly. Creating a monkey-see, monkey-do environment leads to quick solutions and increased learning.
SMART– holds the virtue of intelligence. And some SMART people struggle to see their flaws or learn from others. They lack transparency, which leads to increased politics, confusion and more significant mistakes.
Before you discount the statement above, consider this:
HEALTHY families where parents give discipline, affection, and time, improve over the years even if they lack advantages or resources money can buy.
Unhealthy families with no discipline or unconditional love struggle even if they have wealth, coaches, tutors or all the tech they could ever need.
If you had to bet on the future of one of two kids, one raised by loving parents in a solid home and the other a product of dysfunction with amazing gadgets, which one would you place your money on?
Organizations share the same future.
So if you want to waste resources, and time, decrease productivity, increase employee turnover and customer attrition, lose money and then again waste money to recover. Stay SMART, as the costs here cannot be overstated.
What’s your future looking like? How much money are you losing?
